Cannot reset display name for (non-graphical) objects

Should I be able to say 

_self.name = "New Name"

and have it be refreshed in the Canvas? x, y, width and height are immediately reflected.

I found I could change when I executed code in the text editor, but not by option clicking them. Fixed changeset:132.
